1st picture - House my grandmother owned in South Philadelphia (114 Kenilworth St.) I lived here until I was 6 years old and then moved to the Northeast section of Philly. This house was one of the first houses built in Philadelphia by the carpenters who built Carpenter‘s Hall (2nd picture) which was completed in 1774 and was the key meeting place in the early history of the US.

Cinfhen That is truly amazing!!! Check this out @MicheleinPhilly @DivineDiana @BookaholicNatty @ValerieAndBooks and happy friday #PhillyGirls ❤️❤️❤️ 6y
Crewgurl So cool! My husband is from philly! His family still lives there 😊 6y
EadieB @Crewgurl That‘s great! My grandfather bought this house in 1931 for $4,400. My dad sold it in 1965 because highway 95 was going through South Philly and they were going to tear down these houses until people objected and now it is considered Society Hill. They decided to move 95 down closer to the Delaware River. 6y

alisiakae That is so cool! I‘m from PA and lived in Philly briefly - 3rd and Vine. Heard the roads were a mess yesterday from the snow!! 6y
EadieB @4thhouseontheleft They still are! It was snowing this morning too! 6y
alisiakae @EadieB I had a lot of old high school and college friends stuck on the road for hours yesterday! No fun. It‘s like the northeast was doing it‘s best impression of how the South handles a snowstorm. 😂😂😂 (edited) 6y
EadieB @4thhouseontheleft You just described it perfectly! 6y
BookaholicNatty I love this @EadieB !!!!! Beautiful! What an amazing place to live! @Cinfhen thank you for tagging me so I could see this! ❤️ 6y
alisiakae @EadieB I‘ve lived in NC for 7 years now, and I still don‘t understand the approach to snow. 🤷🏻♀️ 6y
BookaholicNatty @4thhouseontheleft the roads were a complete mess and still aren‘t the best! I can‘t believe we have had snow already! Just doesn‘t seem real!❄️⛄️ 6y
MicheleinPhilly It‘s a shame he didn‘t hold onto it. That house would be worth a pretty penny today! 6y
EadieB @MicheleinPhilly Sore subject with my dad before he died! He sold it dirt cheap because he panicked about 95 coming through. Biggest mistake of his life, I would say! 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I love it!!! ❤️❤️❤️ 6y
DivineDiana @Cinfhen It truly is! Thank you for the tag! How fantastic to have lived there @EadieB Not so that it was sold prematurely! 😕 6y
Clare-Dragonfly I grew up in the Northeast! I moved away about four years ago but my parents still live in the house I grew up in (and my mom also grew up in). 6y
