How to Be Successful without Hurting Men's Feelings
How to Be Successful without Hurting Men's Feelings: Non-threatening Leadership Strategies for Women | Sarah Cooper
Chapters include, among others, 9 Non-threatening Leadership Strategies for Women, "How to Ace Your Job Interview Without Over-acing It," and Choose Your Own Adventure: Do You Want to Be Likable or Successful? It even includes several pages to doodle on while men finish what they're saying. Each chapter also features an exercise with a set of "inaction items" designed to challenge women to be less challenging. And, when all else fails, a set of wearable mustaches is included to allow women to seem more man-like. This will cancel out any need to change their leadership style. In fact, it may even lead to a quick promotion!

4/5⭐ This is a very smart, (sadly) relevant humor book.

The changing formats b/w illustrations, graphs, tables, even worksheets & a choose-your-own-adventure were a good choice for keeping the book from turning stale.

The book balances well the humor with “actually no of course this is all absurd“ to keep readers from yeeting themselves into the sun in frustration. Major kudos to the author for not yeeting herself into the sun while writing it.

Quick, sarcastic, on point book explaining how to deal with bro‘s. Sarah Cooper is my favorite comedian who makes me laugh daily. This book is no exception.

Subtitled "Non-Threatening Leadership Strategies for Women," I was hoping for that. Nope—it's supposed to be humorous. [That's what I get for not checking the genre before reading. Oops.] Me of 10-20 years ago might have found it mildly amusing/nodded my head in resigned agreement. Me of 2019 doesn't find much humor or interest in the sorry state of our society. Maybe things will be funny and interesting again if we survive our current situation.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Absolutely hilarious - but also informative (jokes aside).
I liked the style Sarah Cooper used and figures. Even tough most if the situations are clearly worker's perspectives, they can be applied widely for leaders as well.
I recommend this everyone who wants a good laugh.

I did laugh out loud a fair bit, but I was more wincing because it was almost too true to be funny 😕 It may also be better enjoyed in bits and pieces rather than all at once.

WhatThePuck @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I hate when emails become "reply all" bc they didn't like your answers and decided to involve your boss and their boss. I always peace out when they become those kind of emails and let the boss tell them the cold hard facts. 6y
Kappadeemom I work from home so I don‘t have to worry about most of these except the horrid “reply all” 6y
rwmg Not so much unintelligible as illegible 6y
rabbitprincess @thegirlwiththelibrarybag @WhatThePuck The best/worst reply alls are the ones sent to an entire department and people reply all to say "remove me from this thread" and other people reply all to chastise them for replying all ?? @CouronneDhiver Glaring and tutting! @CaramelLunacy @rwmg Fortunately we don't use post-its for much! @Kappadeemom We restrict our gifs/emojis/memes to informal chat threads with people who are OK with them ? 6y
WhatThePuck It's always nerve wracking when you send that first meme to a new person. 🤣🤣 6y
batsy My preferred form is glaring over the cubicle walls 😂 6y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @WhatThePuck, I haven‘t seen a reply all email thread go that way, I roll my eyes at ones that are replies congratulating on a job/event well done ... did I need to read an email from some random that says Well done?! 6y
WhatThePuck @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I work in hospital security and when they don't like my answers they try and have them overruled by my director. I actually just wrote a pretty passive aggressive response to someone bc after my recommendations to her she CC'd my Director. I told her my last email was verbatim his recs to me about her concerns. Our corporation is too big for congratulatory emails. Our department isn't the warm & fuzzy type either.🤣 6y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @WhatThePuck, I work in a library... but it‘s seems like universally people need to work on email etiquette! 6y
rabbitprincess @WhatThePuck Even using emoticons beyond :) and ;) is nerve wracking! @batsy Our taller coworkers like to peek over the cubicle walls and scare the bejeesus out of us ?? @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I'm ok with those...the annoying ones are when I'm brought in on a thread that I wasn't part of. I file them in a folder called "Stuff I'm cc'd on for some reason" ? 6y
rabbitprincess @WhatThePuck Ugh, that sucks! And no corporation should be too big for congratulatory emails ☹️ It is so so important to get positive feedback. @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Email etiquette and working well with four generations of workers, all of whom have different email styles and habits! 6y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @rabbitprincess, is it too much to ask? (Current evidence suggests yes) 😂 6y

Laugh out loud funny, aggravatingly relatable, and sadly necessary. If you are a woman who works with a man or may ever work with man, you should read this. To avoid hurting feelings. 😂

Weaponxgirl That‘s hilarious and giving me bitch planet vibes when it‘s being snarky 6y
