AnishaInkspill I've been thinking about this and have several poetry books lined up, I'm not sure how this is going to hgo and might span it out longer than the quarter. A really good idea, got me opening books that I have been meaning to get around to. 1mo

Lunakay @AnishaInkspill That sounds great! I think btw that with poetry, a poem a week from different sources would be brilliant too!🤩 I'm planning to read a novel in verse and beside that just enjoying poems from different authors🤗 1mo

annettochka Wow!! This doesn't sound like Pushkin at all! It's interesting in its own way, and the words are correct, but no rhythm and rhyme at all... 2y

Lcsmcat @annettochka I don‘t read Russian well enough to read him untranslated, and poetry is notoriously difficult to translate. Can you recommend a better translation? 2y

annettochka I found an opinion that Julian Henry Lowenfeld is silupposed to be the best translator. Here's the poem:
I loved you once, and still, perhaps, love‘s yearning
Within my soul has not quite burned away.
But may it nevermore you be concerning;
I would not wish you sad in any way.

My love for you was wordless, hopeless cruelly,
Drowned now in shyness, now in jealousy,
And I loved you so tenderly, so truly,
As God grant by another you may be. 2y
