The first 70% of this book was just so so for me. The last 30% was better. Maybe it was just my frame of mind but, I was having a very difficult time getting really into it. I never had that "I can't wait to get back to the book to find out what happens next" moment. Not a bad book, it just didn't fully engage me. This book was chosen by one of our book club members as one of our six books for this quarter.
I enjoyed this book that's big on female family relationships and the unassuming strength of a single mom with well written chapters of imperfect situations but eventually humorous portrayals of an imperfect life. Amy could be the high school friend or her family the family next door. You may find commonalities in your life (as I have). A pleasant read.
The more I read the more I like this book.
This book looks promising. I think I'll like it. Stay tuned. Author is often a panelist on the hilarious & fabulous Wait,Wait Don't Tell Me radio quiz show and podcast.
