May spending log. La TBR saw minimal reduction last month because publishers kept discounting books I had my eye on. SIGH. I also used my self-given right to buy one full-price book for every 15 TBR titles cleared to get COUNTERPOINT by Anna Zabo, because it was Necessary.
I‘m kinda hoping for fewer $0.99 sales in June. Gotta get La TBR down to 300 (from its current total of 309) so I can buy another full-pricer!
pickI‘ve procrastinated on this review because I know I won‘t manage to say everything I want to. Anna Zabo‘s books move me so hard, y‘all! This one deals with anxiety; with feeling fractured; with connecting so hard with someone that you‘re desperate to show them your full self but also terrified they‘ll only want the one part of you. I sank straight into it and fell in love.
Also, there‘s lots of book talk and foodie content and fashion. ❤️❤️❤️
I think I might‘ve caught a cold from painting outside yesterday. I‘ve been fighting off exhaustion all day and my productivity‘s crap. I finally gave up and cuddled with Casey while I read, then had baked eggs followed by gelato.
This is the BEST gelato, y‘all. I‘m super picky about chocolate ice cream and I love it to bits. Unfortunately, I think it‘s discontinued; Safeway was clearing it out for less than half off. Sadness.
I finally got to read another chapter of my book while I ate some delicious sausage & tofu scramble, but now it‘s back to the to-do list. Sigh.
My mom called just as I was about to start painting. She was almost at the US border when she realized she forgot her bag with her money and her passport in it. Ulp. I had to drive out to St Norbert to meet her. At least I got a bit of reading done while I waited?
I stopped in at the library on the way back, too, and the thrift store, and Giant Tiger, so I‘m now set for books and bananas and tank tops, with my favourite ice cream as a bonus.
I couldn‘t face a cold breakfast with a long day of manual labour ahead of me, so I took a bunch of scraps and turned them into something great.
I also dug into my book, which is SO GOOD OMG. Anna Zabo‘s got a direct line on my emotions. Maybe I could ditch the manual labour and read all day?
(No; I‘ve got a tiny window in which to get my closet painted, and I cleared the day for it. Gotta push forward.)

I‘m almost there myself, so I‘m not sure I dare start the tagged book tonight. The first in the series kept me up laaaaate because I LOVED IT SO MUCH OMG. (So much I paid full price for this one. That‘s how you know it‘s serious between us.) Maybe it‘s safer if I dip into a comic instead?
pickThe Netgalley gods smiled upon me and granted me access to Counterpoint - and just in time since I was tearing through the end of Syncopation. This is a fabulously well-crafted, kinky, queer romance about a guitar-playing rock god with a stage personality that has a very long shadow for his nerdy, twink self to hide in who meets a computer programmer in a Brooklyn restaurant and things get very sexy and sweet from there. (Paparazzi are the worst)
