The end of the world is the weirdest time to come of age. Welcome to the end of the world. One minute, people are going about their lives, and the next--not. In the wake of the inexplicable purge, only a handful of young misfits remains. When it all went down, "Wizard of Odd" Dev Brinkman was seeking shelter from the taunts of his classmates. Goth girl Lucy Abernathy had lost her best friend and had no clue where to turn. And Twinkie-loving quarterback "Marcus" Haddad was learning why you never discuss politics and religion in polite company--or online. As if life when you're sixteen isn't confusing enough, throw in the challenges of postapocalyptic subsistence, a case of survivor's guilt turned up to seven billion, and the small task of rebuilding humankind... No one said doomsday would be a breeze. But for Dev, Lucy, and Marcus, the greatest hope--and greatest threat--will come when they find each other.

Bailedbailed

I‘d been saving this book for a while, until I was in the mood for dark humor. I was sorely disappointed and it ended with a DNF. There wasn‘t enough intrigue weaved into the character profiles that took up the first few chapters to drive me to want to read more. I knew more about the three characters‘ backstory than the one that was supposed to unfold.

1. Yeah, THAT happened last night. Thank the Old Gods and the New that it was only dry erase marker.
2. No traveling! Husband always has to work Black Friday so Thanksgiving is quiet for us.
3. Ready for November to just be over!
4. My work computer stuff.
5. Post apocalyptic book where (so far) only 3 kids are the survivors. So far so good! It seems very realistic in what would be happening immediately after an apocalypse 👍

I liked it...I didn't love it but i thought the plot was really interesting and could have possibly gone in many further directions.

Definitely not for the squeamish. Very long unnecessary gory violent scenes (mostly animals)... not that bad at first but becomes extremely repetitious. Eh ending. Seemed to go from very slow to "I'd better wrap this up in the last 20 pages or so". I could see a sequel working a lot out.

Found myself a work-life balance this first full week back at school; a new year with my new students! “Primitive men would have been fine with the sun going around the earth, but it takes a woman to know that life revolves around the moon.” #girlpower

🌟🌟
Normally I love a good apocalypse, but my interest in this one died at about the same time as 99% of the population. The characters were different, but wishy-washy. And there was so much sudden animal death. It's definitely not one you want to read while eating... trust me.

Yesterday I turned 30 and it felt like an impending doomsday. 🎂 I always thought my life would be totally different by now. But, I'm trying a new way of looking at things, including reading.
