Pickpick

I'm pretty sure no one is interested buy my medievalist heart compels me to review this. It was my first book read in Medieval French and it took me sooooo long.
A compilation of 100 short stories, a la Decameron or Canterbury Tales. A bit funny and a bit violent (like most things medieval) it stands as one of the great books of short stories of the period. Of course I loved it, but then again medieval weird humor is my cup of tea.

AlaMich Medieval French, huh? 🙇‍♀️ 6y
Avanders Sounds interesting! Though maybe not the medieval French part 😁 6y
ofbooksandme @AlaMich Yeah, it's like my thing. But at first it killed me. French is my third language and I'm only at an intermediate level so going medieval was certainly a challenge. But my PhD is going to be in Medieval French lit so I couldn't pick! 6y
ofbooksandme @Avanders Yeah, don't do that hahaha. But on all honesty I didn't get some of the jokes till I went to at least the modern French version to check. In translation is sooo much better lol. 6y

Hour 7 of the readathon, which might not be a lot for some but for me is a great accomplishment. I'm happy I took the time to read this weekend in between all the PhD work.
My boyfriend is out having lunch with friends so I said "Why not?" and came to eat by myself.

I wasn't going to participate because I had to study, but since studying involves reading...why not? I do need the motivation.
I don't know if I'll read anything else but we'll see.
