“Within the quiet strength of redwoods lies the story of time itself.”
“Step into the towering world of redwoods and discover their secrets.“
A breathtaking blend of science and imagination, this book takes readers on a journey through the majestic world of redwood trees. Jason Chin seamlessly combines facts with captivating illustrations that bring the ancient forests to life.
This was such a cool NF book about redwood trees! Jason Chin provides real life examples mixed with a boys fictional experience when learning about redwood trees. http://jasonchin.net/educators/educational-resources-for-redwoods/ offers great resources for group activities. #ucflae3414su19
This would be a great book to get kids into reading nonfiction because it has a fictional element of the boy saying the facts as he is in the forest.
This nonfiction book is not like any others I have read. I enjoyed that it was a fictional story about a boy walking in the redwood forest, however, the facts he reads about the redwood forest are true facts. The pictures were absolutely beautiful.

Redwoods by Jason Chin is a NF picture book that would be great for PR. Have you ever wondered about the Redwoods? Exactly how tall and wide are those trees? How old are they? How can they continuously grow? All of these questions and more are answered right in this book. Visually, it takes you on a journey through the Redwoods in a student‘s eyes who just picked up the book about the Redwoods.
This is a great RF RA book to by Jason Chin to have in your classroom library. A boy finds an abandoned book about redwoods, he soon finds out about the strange things that happened when she reads the book. He learns all about the redwoods by jumping through the jurassic period, roman empire, and redwoods itself. I would use UDL principle 2.1 andESOL strategy 5 to help with challenging vocabulary #ucflae3414f17
Redwoods, a NF by Jason Chin, is a bit wordy and long to be engaging. However, the illustrations are AMAZING and really tell a unique story! Here's a video from NatGeo about redwoods: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/videos/the-redwoods/ #ucflae3414su17
My daughter is enjoying all the fun facts she gets to share with us. Especially the fact that a 200 foot tall tree starts out as a seed the size of a tomato seed!
My seven year old's Scholastic book order came in today! Book fair is tomorrow! 🙃
An excellent resource for teaching kids about nature, redwood trees, environmentalism, fantasy and imagination. Recommended for readers ages 5-10. #redwoods #jasonchin
