This is full of shady high-power lawyers, pharmaceutical companies, and stock investors making as many millions as possible while a bad drug is exposed, regardless of the impact a drug has to a patient. I wanted to be done - gratuitous spending and money-grabbing is all kinds of ick. Yet, I was surprising intrigued by Washington DC public defender Clay pulled into that world and finding his way out.

#DoubleSpin Cat: Author‘s canon

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 22h
marleed @TheAromaofBooks It cracks me up how often ‘author‘s canon‘ is picked as either my #BS or #DS. I believe I have 6 more JG books to go from his backlog as well as keeping up with newly published books before I will have read or reread his entire canon since my 2018 starting point. 22h
TheAromaofBooks The BookSpin fates REALLY want you to read more John Grisham 😂 19h
marleed @TheAromaofBooks Indeed! It all started when all my sisters gathered and Sister2‘s home for a reunion of sorts. Sister2 had a stack of JG paperbacks in her donation bin. I noted I liked JG books. Sister1 asked which ones, and I drew a complete blank on the title or specific story of any JG read. I silently decided then/there to read/reread his canon. Sister1 has sadly passed away, but I‘m sticking to my JG goal! 19h

Mehso-so

Clay tries to sue drug companies to compensate victims of harmful drugs. Whorly was one of his clients, an he hated Clay‘s profit compared to his own, but 64k per case (- whorly‘s 43240) * thousands of cases = Clay‘s a millionare, so Whorly gets mad! Clay‘s greed after his first cases won affects how he handles his cases, and it comes back to haunt him. It‘s a fun book. My problem was goes out with models and fat shames women. Otherwise fun book

JohnLAndBenji Clay admits he wants Ridley partially for her body instead of why he likes her soul, and I found this to be shallow. If he had more of a soul connection with his girlfriends instead of talking about how attractive they were the whole time, I would have given this book a pick. I still want to give Grisham books another chance though. 2y

Sometimes you rise and fall quicker than you ever think is possible. Greed, greed, greed.

#funfridayphoto The book closest to me isn't even mine, it's my son's 😂. I'm having breakfast at the table where his college solicitations are piling up and he's supposed to be studying for his permit. Keeping it real! Not sure how this book would be useful in an alien invasion 🤔 👽

Spiderfelt Our kitchen table looks exactly the same way! 8y
ValerieAndBooks @Spiderfelt yeah, it's where everything ends up, it seems! It's weird, when I was growing up I spent a lot of time in my room including doing homework at a desk in there. But my kids have always preferred the kitchen table for that sort of thing (ok with me)! 8y
Spiderfelt Same and Same. It can be annoying to deal with the mess and the clutter sometimes, but I'm also thrilled that my kids prefer to be out in the middle of the house instead of barricaded in their rooms. 8y
ValerieAndBooks @Spiderfelt yes, exactly!! 8y
