A memoir that focuses on one man‘s experience living with epilepsy is a must-read for anyone who has dealt with medical trauma or incompetent doctors! Honest and educational. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I recently heard Kurt speak at a local bookstore and I read his moving and powerful memoir about navigating life with epilepsy in just a few days. He is incredibly honest about his experiences and I learned so much...not just about epilepsy but about being strong in the face of adversity and about the importance of advocating for yourself.
Fantastic medical #memoir with special relevance to seizure/epilepsy sufferers, but Eichenwald‘s book should resonate with anyone who has struggled to get proper, sensitive medical care. #medicine #nonfiction #autobiography
This is my #1 read of 2018. This book will rip you apart. It is agonizing to go on this journey of epilepsy with Kurt . It is infuriating to meet a bevy of incompetent doctors. There are so many people in this book that I absolutely hated. Yet through it all Kurt never gave up. (Con‘t below)
"Fortune dealt me some bad cards, as it has many others in many different ways, and so I played them. In fact, despite all that has happened, if I had the power to travel back in time and push a button that would stop me from ever having epilepsy, I wouldn‘t do it. Even knowing what lay ahead—those nightmares of confusion, injuries, and frequent fear of death—I would accept that fate. This book is my explanation why." (From ARC subject to change).
