10 posts | 10 read | 2 to read

Totally amazing! Loved it! Funny and sad and poignant. All books should be this good!

That was no quick pleasure. The prologue was humorous and so was the first chapter. But even after that, I doubted more and more. The characters that frantically needed to be quirky and the rampant description of banalities got on my wick quickly. And I know, if I start skipping pages, I better leave a book alone.

Too pretentious for me. 🥱

I was so sure this was on my Litsy-sub, that‘s why I took it home with me from the little free library. Uh, well, turned out I was wrong. Seemingly the title just rang a bell because I stumbled across it out of #LitsyMagic.

Just found out that I confused Mariana Leky with Marina Lewycka who wrote 🇩🇪 „Kurze Geschichte des Traktors auf Ukrainisch“ (🇬🇧 “Caravan”) – which I didn‘t find as amusing as everybody else did.

So, perfect, let‘s start …

Deifio Hope it's good anyway...and what's the name of that animal on the cover? Looks like a cross between a zebra and a tapir... 5y
Buechersuechtling @Deifio You‘re good. At first glance I thought it‘s a roe deer 🦌 but it‘s an Okapi. (Which is revealed quite early in the story.) (edited) 5y

A wonderfully weird family history about going into the world only to find suburban bliss at home, big dreams and small comforts ❤️

This book has a very unique writing style. I loved all of the characters in this small village. I also cried a lot.

Yesterday, I took a long walk around the coast of an island not far from us. It was in the morning, so I had the area pretty much for myself. Afterwards, I started reading 📖 Was man von hier aus sehen kann. So far I chocked up a bit, it‘s quite sad.
