The Pharaoh Key
The Pharaoh Key | Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child
7 posts | 10 read | 8 to read
Gideon Crew--brilliant scientist, master thief, intrepid adventurer--is shocked when his former employer, Eli Glinn, vanishes without a trace, and Glinn's high-tech lab Effective Engineering Solutions shuts down seemingly overnight. Fresh off a diagnosis that gives him only months to live, Crew is contacted by one of his former coworkers at EES, Manuel Garza, who has a bead on one final treasure hinted at in EES's final case, the long-awaited translation of a centuries-old stone tablet of a previously undiscovered civilization: The Phaistos Disc. What lies at the end of the trail will either save Gideon's life--or bring it to a sudden, shocking close. Crew once again faces incredible odds--but as Gideon has proved again and again, there's no such thing as too great a risk when you're living on borrowed time.

Another fun adventure read. I am a big fan of Preston & Child and this story did not disappoint. I‘m surprised by how many people disliked this book. Garza is my favorite character in this series and I was happy to see him take a bigger role. If you like archaeological adventure then this book is a good example of the genre IMHO.

Soubhiville Your graphics are impressive. I need to up my bingo card game! 4y

Mehso-so

This book is by no means action packed. In fact for most of the book not much happens at all. Well nothing happens that I was expecting. There doesn‘t seem much of a story here but I can‘t help but think this book was purely a set up for the next book.

Pickpick

This was an enjoyable quick-paced adventure. Likeable characters, solid plot, and plenty of death defying situations mixed with archaeology. I had forgotten how much that I enjoyed their writing. I think I'll have to read the rest of this series now.

ReadingOver50 Ooo yes, I like this series. Didn‘t know this was available 6y
Bookzombie I like this series. Maybe not as much as Pendergast though. I‘m waiting for my audiobook hold to come in. 🙂 6y
