The Moral Animal
The Moral Animal: Why We Are, the Way We Are: The New Science of Evolutionary Psychology | Robert Wright
Are men literally born to cheat? Does monogamy actually serve women's interests? These are among the questions that have made The Moral Animal one of the most provocative science books in recent years. Wright unveils the genetic strategies behind everything from our sexual preferences to our office politics--as well as their implications for our moral codes and public policies. Illustrations. From the Trade Paperback edition.

I could not finish it. Not only was it repetitive, but also reductionist. It started with interesting insights, but Wright is so obsessed with providing proof of the soundness of Darwinian evolutionary psychology, that midway through the book it felt that if you belched after drinking coke, the author would tell you Evolution made you do it (and it planned it before the dinosaurs went extinct)

I used all my audible credits in their 2-for-1 sale, so I can't afford White Trash this month after all, unless I buy more credits. #nonfictionnovember

8little_paws If your library has Hoopla, it's on there. 8y
the_hibernator @8little_paws Nope. The neighboring county has it, but not ours. And the waitlist in my county is long. No hope of getting it this month. 8y
BookishFeminist @the_hibernator any way for you to get a library card at your neighboring county? I seem to recall you being in Minnesota & they have a lot of county reciprocity depending on what counties you're talking about! I had 4 cards when I lived there. 🙊 8y

the_hibernator @BookishFeminist hmm. That's a good question. I know I can borrow books from Dakota county with my Hennepin county card, not sure if I can actually get a card from them. My boyfriend works for the Scott county library and probably knows the answer to that. 8y
BookishFeminist @the_hibernator He probably does. :) My partner is from Anoka County and was able to get St Paul/Ramsey/Hennepin cards with his home address before we had a St Paul address, so it never hurts to ask. Hoopla = 💯💯 so it would definitely be worth it. 8y
becausetrains @the_hibernator what @BookishFeminist said. Even before we moved to St. Paul, I borrowed Ramsey Co books on occasion, but I bet you could get Ramsey, Washington, Goodhue, Scott, Hennepin, and St. Paul no problem 😎 8y
the_hibernator @becausetrains @BookishFeminist I called. They said that I can borrow books from them but can't get a new card or access Hoopla. 😒 8y
charl08 Boo re the e books. 8y
