In the gripping conclusion to the action-packed “standard bearer” (Booklist) of zombie series, the threat of death is given new life. Benny Imura and his friends have found the jet and Sanctuary—but neither is what they expected. Instead of a refuge, Sanctuary is a hospice, and the soldiers who flew the plane seem to be little more than bureaucrats who have given up hope for civilization’s future. With Chong hovering between life and death, clinging to his humanity by a thread, Benny makes a startling discovery: A scientist may have discovered a cure for the zombie plague. Desperate to save Chong, Benny and his friends mount a search and rescue mission. But they’re not the only ones on the hunt. The reapers are after the cure too, and they want to use it turn all the zombies into superfast shock troops—and wipe humanity off the face of the earth. In this riveting conclusion to the Rot & Ruin series, the battle to end all battles is just beginning.

This series is perfect for the Halloween season. Just the right parts zombie, creepy, scary and icky.

I‘ve had mixed feelings with this series. Overall, it‘s fun but the narration has annoyed me. Yet, since a Maberry seems to be tying much of his world together and the new spin off series has Ray Porter narrating decided to finishing it off. Solid finale with interesting potential to build upon.

Bookzombie I read these in print and really enjoyed them. I can‘t decide if should reread them or just move to the next series. I love Ray Porter‘s narration for the Ledger series. 6y
Guildedearlobe @Bookzombie The narrator was ok just felt too old for the series especially early on and it was weird to hear someone else voice Joe Ledger. Ray Porter is brilliant. 6y

Happy Monday, lovelies! I was trying to decide what to put on my TBR for July, and it got me wondering: how do you guys choose what to read next? I know some people go for the spontaneous, whatever-you-feel-like-reading-at-the-time approach, but I basically just make my way through the shelves, from first to last. I'm open to any suggestions for how I can liven up my TBR!

Great installment to the Rot & Ruin series. It was the final one, and it felt like it, but Maberry announced another book in the series will be released. I can't wait as I love these characters and the different personalities.

Bookzombie I love this series. I believe I cried at the end of every one. I understand the new series will be in a different location with new characters. That's what I saw him post FB. 8y
OneCent76 @Bookzombie I shed a few tears as well! I'd be ok with new characters and it'd make sense with the way this one ended. 8y
Bookzombie @OneCent76 He said to expect some familiar faces though so that will be good. 🙂 8y
OneCent76 @Bookzombie nice, no complaints here! 8y
