Note to Self: Inspiring Words From Inspiring People | Gayle King
6 posts | 7 read | 3 to read
Gayle King shares her favorite inspiring letters from the popular CBS This Morning segment Note to Self, in which twenty-first century luminaries pen advice and encouragement to the young people they once were. What do Congressman John Lewis, Dr. Ruth, Kesha, and Kermit the Frog wish they could tell their younger selves? What about a gay NFL player or the most successful female racecar driver? In Note to Self, CBS This Morning cohost Gayle King shares some of the most memorable letters from the broadcasts popular segment of the same name. With essays from such varied figures as Oprah, Vice President Joe Biden, Chelsea Handler, and Maya Angelouas well as poignant words from a Newtown father and a military widowNote to Self is a lovely reflection on the joys and challenges of growing up and a perfect gift for any occasion.

Mehso-so

A collection of letters written by celebrities to their younger selves. Not a bad book but the letters were too short in my opinion, not a lot of depth but there were some encouraging words. It was a perfectly short and sweet read to jumpstart the new year though. I'm going to try to read 4 books a month so here's the rest of the stack I hope to get through for January 🤞🏾🤞🏾

Finished listening to this book last weekend. Very empowering and thought provoking. Kermit the Frog makes an appearance which made me laugh. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Note to self: Find this book about Lumumba and the Cold War when it is out!

tournevis Andrew Ridgeley?!? 6y
ReadosaurusText @tournevis I was underlining the description of the forthcoming book I mentioned. Reid‘s project is the one I‘m interested in. 6y
tournevis @ReadosaurusText I got that part. I was just asking why he would be worth a pic in a contemporary magazine. Talk about as-been. 6y

#24B4Monday - Update

Well I‘ve only managed to read 5.5 hours so far. 😅 I was in a little bit of a low mood on Friday so didn‘t get much read then. I‘m much better now thanks! 😊
I did finish this book today and I recommend it. ❤️
Now I‘m reading Meet Me at the Museum and so far I‘m enjoying it. Reminds me a little bit of 84 Charing Cross Road which was also a fabulous book. 🥰📚

I rate this as a pick because I think the sentiment of these notes is amazing and it‘s a worthwhile project. I know they were trying to get people from all walks of life, but the most boring letter was written by an architect. I think the selections of some of the people could have been better or more inspiring, some with better letters

This sounds like a neat book...Note to Self, read this book! 😩🤣🤣🤣

MicheleinPhilly I just got an email about this and there were snippets from the book in the email. BUT I thought they were reviews so I was like, “Oprah, sure. Joe Biden, sure. Wait what??? Maya Angelou??? That‘s not possible!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ 7y
robinb @MicheleinPhilly That sounds like the same email I got! 👍😊 7y
