'Quirky, clever, and original, this will break your heart, but put it back together again.' Katie Fforde Fans of Jojo Moyes and Marian Keyes will love THE SONGS OF US by Emma Cooper, a charming, funny and heartbreaking novel of love, loss and what it means to be a family. If Melody hadn't run out of de-icer that day, she would never have slipped and banged her head. She wouldn't be left with a condition that makes her sing when she's nervous. And she definitely wouldn't have belted out the Arctic Monkeys' 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' in assembly at her son's school. If Dev hadn't taken the kids to the zoo that day, then the accident wouldn't have happened. He wouldn't have left Flynn and Rose without a dad. Or shattered the love of his life's heart. But if they hadn't seen the missing person report that day, they might never have taken the trip to Cornwall. And, in the last place they expected, discovered what it really means to be 'Us'.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5 Stars

I wanted to love this more but it never fully grabbed me until about 1/2 way in (hard time finding it believable). The story opens with the mom singing involuntarily and the father has been missing for 11 years after a car accident.

I thought the second half of book was wonderful and had me unable to put the book down.

I started this one a while backed based off the recommendation of author, Kelly Rimmer (and upon reading reviews I‘ve heard it is a #tearjerker, which I love). I‘m easily distracted by Kindle books, so that‘s why I haven‘t finished, but I‘m determined to do it this week.

For those interested: It isn‘t sold in the US (I think it is a UK book), but I found it on Amazon in paperback form. Took a few weeks to arrive.

Thought it was going to be a bit of a light read on a Monday afternoon and cried my eyes out for the last 10 minutes 💔what this family had to go through!!
Definitely not my usual sort of book, but I enjoyed it and couldn‘t put it down until I finished. Currently 99p on kindle and well worth it.

Kalalalatja With a review like that, I have to stack it! 6y

OMGOODNESS! I can't recommend this book highly enough.
It has all the makings of a massive bestseller...very funny, incredibly sad in some places...written by a new author who has obviously done their homework on many things.
The descriptive writing was so amazing, I could picture it. I have some experience of a few of the issues brought up, and it brought it flooding back.Absolutely brilliant and can't recommend it enough.
5🌟
