Jim Henson's Labyrinth: Coronation
Jim Henson's Labyrinth: Coronation | Simon Spurrier, Jim Henson
7 posts | 16 read | 12 to read
The untold origin of the Goblin King from Jim Hensons cult-classic film, Labyrinth. Long before Sarah ventured to save her baby brother from the clutches of the Goblin King, another young woman sought to save her child from an unknown fate within the Labyrinth. Set in 18th-century Venice, Jim Hensons Labyrinth: Coronation is a striking look into the mysteries of the Labyrinth itself, uncovering the fate of a small boy named Jareth who would one day be King. Simon Spurrier (The Spire, Jim Hensons The Power of the Dark Crystal) and Daniel Bayliss (Jim Hensons The Storyteller: Dragons, Big Trouble in Little China/Escape from New York) present a look into a magical world where nothing is as it seems and introduce Maria, a heroine instilled with courage, hope, and determination.

Look what made it home. Thank you ladies for sharing these. I‘m disappointed the books didn‘t hold up. I hate how weekly some books are bound now. But I‘m glad I got to share this update of my fav movie. @cwarnier you have to watch the movie. It is so much better. So much!!!!!

LibrarianRyan @JazzFeathers I am assuming the film and the movie are the same thing, but for this book series, yes the film is better. 4y
Buchbeeg Thank you for sharing with us! I am so happy to have read them. 4y
JazzFeathers @LibrarianRyan 😂😂😂 yeah, l ment the film better than the book. It shows how shocking it is to me 😂😂😂 4y
LibrarianRyan @JazzFeathers This book tells a small part of the movie. The idea behind the books is what one of the Goblins is telling Toby (the baby) while Jareth (David Bowie) and Sarah (Jennifer Connlley) have their interactions in the movie. The movie came first. And there are a few retellings or continuations. There is a Manga called Return to the Labryinth where Toby is a teen ager and it's pretty interesting. 4y

Pickpick

I have been baffled by stories set in the Labyrinth universe. None of them have been about Sarah. Goodnesses knows fans of the movie wouldn‘t want that. That said, this is the best of the lot. It has (gasp) a female protagonist. It has a woman discovering her agency. It has nice art work.

Does the world really need a Labyrinth prequel? No, not really.

Am I capable of seeing a Labyrinth prequel on the shelf at Barnes & Noble and not getting it? No, not really.
