Coyote Waits | Tony Hillerman

The car fire didn't kill Navajo Tribal Policeman Delbert Neza bullet did. And the old man in possession of the murder weapon is a whiskey-soaked shaman named Ashie Pinto. Officer Jim Chee is devastated by the slaying of his good friend Del, and confounded by the prime suspect's refusal to utter a single word of confession or denial. Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn believes there is much more to this outrage than what appears on the surface, as he and Jim Chee set out to unravel a complex weave of greed and death that involves a historical find and a lost fortune. But the hungry and mythical trickster Coyote is waiting, as always, in the shadows to add a strange and deadly new twist.

Results for week 3 - can't believe we are already heading into the final week!! I wasn't sure #Scarathlon2021 was going to be a good fit for me because I am not super into Halloween, but I have genuinely been inspired to read so much this month because of this challenge!! As always, thanks for being the captain for #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick !!

And yes, a lil orchard photo for the background!! ❤️

Crazeedi What a beautiful picture, you are blessed!! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Crazeedi - Yes!!! I love working there so much. I need to walk back up on Apple Hill & take some pictures - it's a high point of the area & always so pretty this time of year. This pic I just snapped while I was loading the truck last week - I thought the tractor looked so picturesque haha 3y
Crazeedi @TheAromaofBooks I love old tractors!! When I can walk again I will take some pics of our little farm for you!! 3y

TheAromaofBooks @Crazeedi - I would love that!!! I enjoy seeing other “homesteads“ - even on our tiny parcel of land we have gardens and some fruit trees and I love it!! 3y
Crazeedi @TheAromaofBooks share some more pics sometime🍁🍂🍁 3y
Clwojick Woohoo! Way to go! 🔥 ❤ I'm so glad you decided to join us. As with the wintergames, i always say it's best to join and participate as much or as little as you want, rather than fully missing out. The main goal is just to scratch some books off of the never ending TBR list! 😆 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Clwojick - Yes!! I haven't done much with the games and that sort of thing, but I've realized I'm strangely motivated by earning points for reading and readathons 😂 I'm thinking about making a monthly scoresheet just for myself to see if I can beat my own points month to month! 3y

Book 10 for Leaphorn & Chee and I am so enjoying these!! Last one for a while, though, while I wait for the next five to come in from the library. The title for this one refers to the Navajo tradition of the coyote as the embodiment of an evil spirit, and how that evil waits to take advantage of the unwary all the time. I actually loved that concept so much. Another solid mystery with a great setting.
