contemporary realistic fiction
It about a young girl discovering her life and how the Forrest can help others more than you know. It talks about family dynamics and how the earth gives to us. It talks about bullies and how to deal with them.
This quote is relevant to how I feel when I am anxious. The author provides detailed passages that help kids relate to the book and their own life!
I like the idea of this story, but I think this part about the safe haven being torn away from the child is a predictable piece in the story.
Published in 2017, this realistic fiction book is a great book for students to know they are not alone if they are the ones in their family taking care of everyone. This story illuminates issues children might have in life and how they hold something dear to them in which could be taken from them in an instance.
“When you live protected by branches and leaves, you favor privacy.”
I like this story because it has a female lead who is headstrong and determined. Fern stand alone against all odds and fights for what she loves. That‘s an inspiring story to all children.
This realistic fiction was published in 2017 by Little Brown and Company. It is a story about an 11 year old named Fern. She doesn‘t have the easiest life. Her stepfather is out of work and she has a lot of grown up responsibilities to attend too. The woods near her home are her only refuge. But when a fracking company rolls into town, her special woods could be ripped away. Fern is faced with the responsibility of going against all odds.
Contemporary realistic fiction. This is a wonderful story that I would love to keep reading. Just from what I read you can tell how rich and real this story is and how impactful it can be on a young reader. It would be a perfect book to have available in a classroom library.
The End of the Wild by Nicole Helget, 2017. This a wonderful example of realistic fiction. It portrays the many struggles of Fern in her home life and in her world in the woods. You can feel the dilemma she feels as her secret world is threatened by something that could save her family. It‘s rich and real.
