so-soMade a new account after lost access to @bravenewtrav when I deleted my old email. My first Chekhov. Difficult to follow the names but fascinated by how he writes characters. His oldest one and I‘ve heard his least accessible compared to his other stuff. Looking forward to reading “The Sea Gull” next & hoping I have an easier time with it.
so-soMy ears were ringing after this play because everyone seemed to be shouting about something or other. I am around Ivanov's age and could relate to feelings of disillusionment and failure after acquiring too many responsibilities, but I did not have a great deal of sympathy for him.
Each of us is full of too many wheels, screws and valves to permit us to judge one another on a first impression or by two or three external signs.
