This book was what I expected: much more faster paced than the lengthy prologue of book 1. What I was not expecting was the year at a magical school, very Harry Potter-esque. That was far from the setting & feel of book 1, though it did make sense for the plot.
This book was very long, and I think some parts were dragged out or unnecessary, but overall it‘s turning into a fun fantasy series, and I‘m looking forward to book 3!
“Lieutenant Mac Gillin of the Queen's Guard of the Fells hunched his shoulders against the witch wind that howled out of the frozen wastelands to the north and west.”

The first book in this series was good but I was still a little bit on the edge about whether or not I was fully interested. I picked up this second book and couldn‘t put it down! The development of the two main characters is fantastic and even the plot twists and development of the side characters is fantastic!
A few overlookable inconsistencies but it was a GREAT sequel. Perfect ending. I love Amon and Raisa.
“When Sloat's smug face appeared at eye level, Raisa stiffened her fingers and stabbed them into his eyes, a technique Amon had shown her all those many years ago.“
I love the collegiate feel of Oden's Ford, where all the young people in this novel go to study. Each has its own specialism and the university, one by one, draws each of them in, forcing the protagonists into close proximity.
“Maybe he wanted to work her hard enough to wear her down, to make her give up the idea of hiding among the warrior cadets at Wien House. His idea was that she'd stay in the temple close, cloistered with the dedicates, gardening and reading and studying healing and doing needlework with the speakers.“
Apparently this cat likes being bounced like a baby. What a little fool.
So I made fun of this book at first, but it was soooo much better than the first one. I‘m looking forward to reading the next one #theexiledqueen
And now there‘s a style of fighting called, and I‘m not kidding, sticking. People who master it are called Stick Masters. Heavy sigh
How edgy... Is it wrong of me to laugh at this? All I can think of are the girls I went to high school with who had asymmetrical haircuts like this. And they thought they looked good. Maybe Raisa will make it her thing.
1. Number 1 baby!
2. Sometimes I wanted a twin and other times I wanted to be an only child
3. One sister
4. The Bennetts, Weasleys, the Fennbirn sister Princesses, the Dollangers, and the Archeron sisters
5. I‘ll have to check and edit this later

Reading before work with my cuddle buddy, Mim.
Felt cooped up at home so now I'm at a cafe reading instead. What an exciting life I lead.
My ideal setup: some instrumental music, a book, a fuzzy blanket, and a nice-smelling candle.
Just finished up The Demon King. Great read! I can‘t wait to see what the characters are up to in The Exiled Queen.
Extremely beat up, but loved, copy from my local library. I'm all in for this series. 😍
Book #2 - here I come! 📖
God I enjoyed this book so much. I just couldn't put it down. Honestly it reminded me of Harry Potter but with princesses and romance. Freaking loved it. I'm glad I gave it a try after I thought the first of the series was just OK
SO MUCH SHIPPY PAIN. Each book in this series gets better and better.
