Hi Fly guy is a Theodore Seuss Geisel honor book . The book it‘s self is a great book for students for RA and also shared reading . The book talks about boy that choices a fly to show off in the amazing pet show .

This book also is great because you can connect what you hear to what you see. It uses UDL 1.3 and ESOL 8

Hi! Fly Guy is a 'Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor award-winning ' RF book by Tedd Arnold. This story is about a boy named Buzz who wanted to find a pet for the amazing pet show. While he is searching for the perfect pet, he finds a fly. He took the fly as his pet and named it Fly Guy. When Buzz took Fly Guy to the pet show, the judge didn't consider the fly a pet, and they said Fly guy was a pest. #UCFLAE3414SP21

StephanyNunez Buzz was disappointed, but Fly Guy did some trick, and the judges were surprises. In the end, they accepted Fly Guy, and he won the smartest pet award. Teachers can use "Hi! Fly Guy" for Reader Theater (RT). After all, the story has different expressions, actions and it's great for RT because it's fun and interactive. The story uses UDL principles.... ztorres This series brings so much joy just because it reminds me of my nephew when he was in elementary school. He would make sure that every book fair I would buy him one of the Fly Guy books. He truly enjoyed them and found them funny. I think its a must have collection in the classroom libraries. I just think of the many other kiddos that will be his age enjoying the books just like he did. 4y

Mehso-so

This book is a Theodor Seuss Geisel honor book. It is a book about a boy who finds a fly, the fly gets captured in a jar and doesn't like his jar so he buzzed, which happens to be the boys name. They form a friendship.

I would use this book in my classroom as a class read aloud (in reading groups). I think this book would be great because it introduces students to chapter books.

A good story to teach kids about beginning, middle, and end. It's also an underdog story because no one thinks a fly can be a pet, but of course it can it can do anything just like the kids you read it to what a great lesson.

Hi! Fly Guy is a fun science fiction book written and illustrated by Tedd Arnold and it won the Theodore Seuss Geisel Award! It‘s a very funny book about a boy and his pet fly, who, by the way, calls him by his name. Everyone in the book tells the boy that he can‘t have a Fly as a pet, but the fly shows them why they are wrong. This would be a great book to have the class choral read.

Haleysantucci I would utilize UDL principle 3.2 because of the patterns that repeat throughout and the relationship between the boy and the fly and how it changes throughout. I would utilize the ESOL strategy Number 19 as we would repeat the same predictable routine throughout the choral reading. 6y

Hi! Fly Guy by Tedd Arnold a modern fantasy (F) picture book, won a Theodore Seuss Geisel honor award. This was a fun children book about a boy name buzz and his pet fly. Throughout the book buzz is trying to prove to everyone that his fly is an actually pet. He's also known to be the smartest pet because he can say "buzz" name. TA RA, DR. This video is a great RA for the students https://youtu.be/nsei6emyifQ

Hervela.L I found that this website allow student several activities to enjoy with this book. https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/teaching-content/hi-fly-guy-sto... (edited) 7y
Hervela.L UDL offer alternatives for visual information align well with ESOL strategies 1. Teach questioning for clarification. This will help students answer questions like, do you really think a fly will be a good pet? Can A fly be a pet? #ucflae3414sp18 (edited) 7y
Ryanne.H I love the additional questions you added at the end. The activities you linked are a perfect choice. Great job :) 7y
