Books I've kept on my shelves from the last two years. I've read a lot from my shelves this year, but I usually take a lot to my class library. My goal next year is to read what is on my shelves so I can make room for more!

#ReadingResolutions Day 22: This book is inspired by 21 woodcut artwork created by Gustave Doré, French painter and illustrator who was born in 1832 in Paris and died in 1883, and written by the unparalleled Moers. If 12yo Gustave manages to fulfill the tasks set out by Death, he might be given a new lease in life. Kind of like a get-out-of-#jail free card. What these tasks are, check out my full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-71q
Walter Moers takes 21 Gustave Doré engravings and creates a surreal & allegorical fantasy featuring a 12-yo Gustave Doré. The novella-length tale, rich w/imagery, whimsy, wonder, and sly humor, suffers a little bit from translation from the original German, and is a bit esoteric in nature but readers are guaranteed to spend considerable time scrutinizing the b&w illustrations and being alternately amused and bemused by the story.

This is still on my #tbr and it's a shame. 😓 It was hard to decide what I should photograph, all the illustrations are so beautiful and scream #fullofadventure (Though some of the covers of the English editions make it look a little bit weird...this works better in black & white imo) #booktober
