People of Sparks: Book of Ember 2
People of Sparks: Book of Ember 2 | Jeanne DuPrau
The People of Sparks picks up where The City of Ember leaves off. Lina and Doon have emerged from the underground city to the exciting new world above, and it isn t long before they are followed by the other inhabitants of Ember. The Emberites soon come across a town where they are welcomed, fed, and given places to sleep. But the town s resources are limited and it isn t long before resentment begins to grow between the two groups. When anonymous acts of vandalism push them toward violence, it s up to Lina and Doon to discover who s behind the vandalism and why, before it s too late. "From the Hardcover edition.""

This book has an important point to make and does it well. A book about the courage to do the right thing even in the face of fear. It touches on how easily anger and revenge can consume us like a fire in a dry forest. A quick, easy read but deeply insightful, too. 5💡

I should probably read my February #doublespin ( Gentleman in Moscow), but I need a palate cleanser after Dante Club. Trying to finish some series.

tokorowilliamwallace O.o What are your thoughts on The Dante Club? I've started it but haven't gotten very far in. I have enjoyed the academic and literary characterization, as well as the descriptive prose, so far. 3y
BookDadGirlDad @tokorowilliamwallace I have a review on it 3y

After finding a way out of the City of Ember, the people find another city (the City of Sparks). At the City of Sparks, people clash over resources and miscommunications.

This is the second book from the City Of Ember series. As Doon and Lina first arrive from underground they are faced with many challenges. They must find shelter and food fast as their first winter is arriving. This is a fantasy genre book and I would recommened it to people who like suspenseful and adventurous books

MissYaremcio Great review Tak! I am glad that you are enjoying this series! 5y

I don't think Katie liked "The City of Ember: The People of Sparks" as much as I did. Though she never left my side. I wonder what her breaking point was. Maybe because they had chickens in that city but she couldn't eat them. I would be mad too. #catsoflitsy #greatbook #easyread #fun

I wasn't going to go in, but I'm weak.....

LitHousewife I would also have to browse. 8y
BekahB Awww...yep the Hastings in my city is having their going out of business sale too. It's sad to walk through, but hard to pass up the discounts. I've been there multiple times to get books. They say they're staying open until October. Not sure what they plan to do with the stock they aren't able to sell. 8y
Bookworm83 @LitHousewife I couldn't help myself! 8y

Donna_sBookMinute @BekahB -- You're so right about it being sad to walk through. I remember the feelings of ambivalence while shopping at Borders when they went out of business a few years ago. I still sometimes cast a wistful eye towards the big and tall men's store that's there now. 8y
Bookworm83 @BekahB Yeah...50% off used books is not bad at all. The books were pretty picked over by this point, but I found a couple 😊 8y
Bookworm83 @Donna_sBookMinute I miss Borders! 8y
Laura317 I think Amazon is really hurting some of the smaller bookstores. 😒 8y
megt I hate to see any store selling books going out of business, but it is hard to pass up those sales! 8y
