The relationship between father and daughter is beautiful & his 7yr old is bright for her age.
'Why?', is what drives Scully, he then begins to see deeper into himself on his desperate journey.
They travel through Europe on a quest for hope & answers as his worry turns to pain.

Pulled through the last 3/4's of this book, hungry for answers, I finally finished. I'm not sure what to make of it. I think I'll have to sit with this one for a while...

Getting tired of our 4 walls already I felt like I needed an outdoor reading area
It might seem a little plain but before today it was just a wall & these pieces of outdoor furniture were in other less easily accessible areas of our odd shaped yard
This is now right outside our backdoor & we began using it right away, to read then to eat dinner too! I can't believe it took me 2 years to realize I needed this!
I haven't been this excited in ages 😊

I'm about 10 chapters in on this audiobook but I feel funny sitting in bed with nothing in my hands just listening.
After finishing Marrying Mozart last night, I'm missing the characters & I felt like curling up with a familiar story so I found my paperback of The Riders & I've started it again.

Audiobooks are great and I love the narrators they choose, & their expressions, but I really think I take in more when I'm reading the words myself.

Curiouser_and_curiouser @Freespirit oh cool! Thanks for the encouragement. I've tried beginning/taste-testing a few of his books and I think I'm getting a taste of his style now. I'm liking The Riders so far. I've read a few chapters of The Boy Behind the Curtain, I'm a little way into Shallows and I have Cloudstreet on audio as well as paperback, looking forward to it over this time at home. Hoping you're staying safe wherever you are in the world x 5y

Curiouser_and_curiouser Yes, absolutely @katy4peas! I was a huge knitter/crocheter & I actually have a garage FULL of wool, collected over about 12 years from my obsession. Imagine 25 plastic drawer sets, filled with wool, the bane of my husbands existence. I haven't touched my wool since my littlest one began school as I took up work again right away. Now with lockdown I might tidy up some old projects & begin some new. You might see some new work posted soon....😉 5y

One of my favourite all time books. I don‘t like any of his other books but I just love this one. I read it again this weekend. Every bit as good as the first read. Seems it is one of his least known books. Have you read it?

My favourite Tim Winton book. I found this hard copy 1st edition in our local “ tip” shop. It was my first visit there. Amazing the good stuff people throw out and this place is trying to stop it going to landfill. It cost me a dollar and will replace the battered paperback I have. Might be time for a reread . @MrsMalaprop

MrsMalaprop This is my favourite Winton too, but I last read it many years ago (maybe for book club?). I wonder if I would feel the same if I reread it now? 7y
