Next-door neighbors and ex-best friends Hannah and Emory haven't spoken in months. But their paths cross unexpectedly when, one night, Hannah finds Emory's boyfriend, Luke, doubled over in his car outside her house. The paramedics rush him to the hospital, and for three minutes, Luke is clinically dead. And then he isn't. As Luke struggles to understand why he lived, he turns first to Emory for comfort, and then to Hannah for an explanation through her strong faith. With Hannah's help, Luke records a video about his experience, and suddenly his video goes viral, thrusting him into the limelight while Emory watches helplessly, unsure of where his new experiences leave their relationship. But when a devastating secret comes to light, all three must reexamine the things they hold true. In alternating chapters, a skeptic and a believer piece together the story of the close relationship they lost and the boy caught somewhere in the middle. New York Times best-selling author Tamara Ireland Stone deftly crafts a moving portrait that examines the intricacies of faith, love, and friendship.

I was ready to start reading this, but realized I'm too sleepy for any reading.

I'm looking forward to it though! I really loved "Every Last Word."

Pickpick

This book seems rare to me. I‘ve never read a ya contemporary book that deals with religion and questioning ones beliefs. There were many parts in this book I liked, and there were some tears. But there were also things I felt were unnecessary....

mskayla07 I liked Hannah‘s growth as a character, but I felt like Emory didn‘t grow as much. I felt Hannah‘s relationship with Aaron was uncomfortable and unnecessary. All the side characters apart from Luke felt a little one-dimensional. 6y
mskayla07 I appreciated the talk about sexual assault but the resolution felt rushed and then forgotten. The fight itself between Hannah and Emory felt much more significant until i found it more details and then it fell flat. I also had trouble reading the difference in Hannah and Emory‘s chapters; they sounded a little too much the same at first. 6y
mskayla07 Overall, this is very well written and deals with important topics like finding your voice, questioning your beliefs, and friendship. This is somewhere between a 3.75 and a 4. 6y

The paper quilling on the cover of this book's dust jacket really caught my eye and when I opened it to look at the blurb, I was both surprised and touched by the post-it message inside.

I realize the words weren't meant to be for me, but I still found the sentiment to be so lovely; the act itself such an encouraging gesture to its eventual reader.

I hope whoever purchases this book receives this reminder at a time they need it most ❤

Thanks for the opportunity for a #YAWednesday giveaway @TheFunkyBookworm !! I have been dying to get my hands on this book since it came out - my library doesn‘t have a copy and since I purchased a lot of books around that time I made myself wait. The cover is amazing and it sounds really good!

TheFunkyBookworm This cover alone is enough to add it to my TBR 😍 you have 2 entries since you reposted yesterday- good luck! 🍀💜 6y
kstadt929 @TheFunkyBookworm isn‘t it amazing!? Thanks! 6y

I have hit a reading funk. I sat for almost an hour yesterday trying to figure out what I feel like reading and nothing was striking interest. That sucks because my anxiety has been high this week and I so wish I could pick something that would free my mind. Hopefully this weekend I can find something that strikes my fancy.

heidisreads Sorry about the reading funk and anxiety. Have you read the Fables comic series by Bill Willingham? I return to those when I need to get lost for a while. 6y
Jen_Reads @heidifk I haven‘t read that one yet, but I‘ve been meaning too. Hopefully next time I‘m in a bookstore they have it. 6y
CKlube A Man Called Ove just broke my funk. I haven‘t appreciated a book so much in a long time. Personally, whenever I‘m feeling anxious, I turn to Harry Potter or Tuck Everlasting- a trusted favorite always makes me feel better. Sending well wishes! 😊 6y
tracey38 I'm sorry. Hope you are able to find something to help soon. I was in this same place recently. Hugs! 🌻 6y
