I picked this up from B&N today. Thank you @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks for your post on historical fiction books, this is where I saw it! 💗

I got 2/3 into this but the relentless abusive alcoholic episodes went on too long at the same level of shittiness. I don‘t have time to keep reading about asshole behavior going nowhere just because of an interest in the real people this is based on.

I‘m just not a fan of F Scott Fitzgerald although the author did her darnedest to try to convince me. I really enjoyed the early years of Sheilah Graham, however, as she reinvents herself from Lily Shiel, a poverty-stricken Jewish girl who was sent to an orphanage, to a well-known Hollywood gossip columnist who has a torrid live affair with Fitzgerald.

Dorothy Parker is a recurring character! This book is so much more than it‘s been marketed as—Fitzgerald appeared in the first chapter and it‘s been a wild badass biography of Sheilah ever since. 💖
