'One of the most original and frightening storytellers of our time' PETER JAMES. The Oaks is an idyllic, up-market country club - but behind its ornately carved walls is an horrific past. Sixty years ago the house was an asylum, home to crazed psychopaths, all of whom disappeared one night, never to be seen again. It didn't take long for Jack Reed to decide to convert the huge gothic mansion in the woods into an idyllic, up-market country club. But the building's chequered past is anything but idyllic. It was once a mental asylum, home to several psychopaths, all of whom disappeared one night, never to be seen again. It's only when Jack's son is dragged into the walls of the mansion that he realises what really happened sixty years previously - and just where the inmates have been residing all this time. A dark and horrifying tale of Druidism, madness and murder.

It‘s an unseasonably cool day here in Austin- it was only 55 this morning as we had our walk! Sietje is checking out all the smells as I enjoy being comfy in a sweatshirt and watching the purple martins catch bugs. #LitsyWalkers

Kaye Looks like you had a nice day for walking. That‘s better than snow and better than the super hot weather. Just right ! 6y

We just had a short walk this afternoon, around the block. I love that this yard is all flowers instead of grass. The entire yard is full of these beauties! Sietje‘s smiling for the treat in my hand 😊🐶🚶🏼‍♀️

Ke633 I love Fire Wheels! They are one of my favorite wild flowers. 6y
Kaye Aren‘t those pretty ? My husband used to say dogs don‘t smile, but I told him they do. I‘ve never had a dog but I‘ve seen lots of dogs smile. 6y
Soubhiville @Ke633 I didn‘t know what they were! Thanks! Yes they‘re very pretty. 6y
Ke633 They are also called Indian Blanket but I think Fire wheel sounds cooler! Haha 6y

This is where I walked on Saturday, not today, but I needed a pretty picture today. #water

Tomorrow will be an incredibly hard day: Maya will be attending her first funeral, and I have to admit I am dreading attending a funeral for a dear sweet girl who was the same age as my own dear sweet daughter. We will be surrounded by many of Maya‘s classmates and teachers. But this is SO hard for all of us.

#LitsyWalkers

cobwebmoth Sending hugs to you and your family. 6y
alisiakae @cobwebmoth Thank you 😊 💙💙 6y
Kaye That‘s so sad. Very hard for kids to understand those things. Life‘s not fair when that happens. 6y

Lcsmcat I‘m so sorry for your loss. ❤️ My son lost a classmate in 3rd grade and it‘s hard, but kids are amazingly resilient. 6y
BookNAround There‘s nothing more heartbreaking than a child‘s funeral. I‘m so sorry for this terrible loss and I wish for you the strength to help your daughter understand and come to peace with it. 6y

#LitsyWalkers @kaye O.K. the level of commitment from you walkers is inspiring.I‘m bad because I basically can‘t use the weather excuse. However ,my phone is a super liar 🤥 pedometer wise, said I walked 1.7 miles.I walked up and down a street I can drive,it was 3 miles .A bridal trail on Central Ave that has been here since 1895.Arizona wasn‘t even a state then.

rockpools I love that sign! 6y
Leftcoastzen @RachelO I love it too! Nice reminder of Old Phoenix. And a well loved trail for walkers ,dogs and bikes. 6y
Kaye I don‘t have a phone with a GPS so I just use an app on my iPod that measures the minutes per day I walk. Nice picture. 6y

Today I got a collage of numbers on our walk. If you go looking for them, they‘re kind of everywhere! I wouldn‘t normally even think about them.

I started There There by Tommy Orange on audio last night. The first part of it is heavily historical, and it hasn‘t hooked me yet. I‘m hoping I can get more into it today.

Mdargusch Love this! 6y

Had a little break from #24b4Monday and went to see the park lighting in Essen. It was great as every time. I thought about all the #Litsywalkers while I was discovering the different lights 🤩😍

Today‘s walk took me past the two closest Little Free Libraries to my home. I didn‘t take anything, nothing in them quite struck my fancy today. My Book square. #LitsyWalkersBingo @kaye

LeahBergen I just found a new Little Free Library today, too, and I was SO excited. It‘s only about a block from my house and needs some books. I‘m plotting what to take over. 😄 6y
Aimeesue The dog gos and I walk by one every day, but it‘s in front of a church, and I think parishioners drop their unwanted books in - SO much Beth Meyerson! And someone jammed it full of 1980s era textbooks last week. I had to stop when I drove by later and pull them and recycle them. NOBODY WANTS YOUR OUTDATED TEXTBOOKS, PEOPLE! 😂 6y
Soubhiville @Aimeesue when I had my library up I‘d often get big dumps of self help books- my poor little library would be bursting at the seams! So I‘d choose a couple to leave in there, but most would go live at a used bookstore or charity shop. 6y
Soubhiville And yeah, out of date textbooks unfortunately just have no use. No reason to leave them there. Like rose old “AOL for dummies” or similar manuals. Bye-bye! @Aimeesue (edited) 6y
Aimeesue @Soubhiville People feel guilty about throwing books into the trash, which, in general, is good, but honestly, if you donate outdated books, they‘re going straight into the recycling. Where they belong! 6y

#LitsyWalkers BINGO
It‘s a treadmill day in my neck of the woods.

Kaye Great job ! One Bingo square done ✅. Check in with your minutes, distance or however you measure it. Also if you‘re listening to an audiobook, you can add that. 6y

Here‘s two signs for @kaye from my soggy Sunday walk. Even with the drizzle Sietje and I walked for 45 minutes, 1.89 miles. Now it‘s time for lunch, then my weekly call to mum, then back to my book 😊.

Happy Sunday Littens!
#LitsyWalkers

Kaye Good for you Soubhi. Thanks for the signs. Maybe I can think of something each day to snap a photo of. 6y
