pickThis is a beautiful poem filled with real life points and a reminder to all the little black girls put there that they are magic. Black Girl Magic is full of love (self love and communal love) and charm. Illustrations are gorgeous. Definitely recommended, especially as a read aloud.
pickI read it over and over and over, and when my girls are older I hope to read it with them and talk about the privilege of their white skin.
These were my favorite pages as far as the illustrations. I love the hands lovingly plaiting her hair while delivering empowering words.
