Three tragedies by Lorca. These are Spanish plays set in the 1930s, during a time and in a place where women were very oppressed. I was lucky enough to be involved in a production of “The House of Bernarda Alba†several years ago (pictured bottom right) and selected an excerpt (top right) that perfectly describes the judgements women heap upon each other not only in these works and in the times these were set in, but also today.

CarlyQuinn @readinginthedark @Andrea4 pretty much! I had a few small parts in this play including voicing the scream of Librada‘s daughter. It broke my heart every time for her. 7y

Zelma Oh wow, I am instantly transported back to high school seeing this book. We had to read them in Spanish, which was challenging and rewarding. 7y
CarlyQuinn @Zelma that would be very advanced! The language isn‘t overly simple, and the themes are sometimes complex. We learned the reaper‘s song in Spanish but that was it 7y
