Fold Me a Poem is a poetry picture book written by Kristine O'Connell George and illustrated by Lauren Stringer. This narrative follows a young boy as he creates origami animals to bring a story to life through the use of haikus. Fold Me a Poem is great from choral reading and partner reading.

DominiqueL George's website www.kristinegeorge.com/fold_me_a_poem.html provides teacher resources with many different ways to utilize the book in the classroom. I would have the students create haikus of there own to go along with an origami creature of their choosing. 7y
DominiqueL The UDL principles that apply are activating or supply background knowledge, 2.1 clarify vocabulary and symbols, 1.1 offer ways of customizing the display of information, and 7.2 Optimize relevance, value, and authenticity. The ESOL strategies that I will use are teaching technical vocabulary supporting key concepts, slow and redundant pacing, continually monitor students‘ comprehension, and using preview/review activities. #UCFLAE3414F17 7y
DrSpalding I have actually had students create origami creatures. There are standards relating to following oral and or written directions. Creating these origami figures works well to help meet and master that standard. Utilizing poetry along with this hands-on experience is excellent. Look how many universal design principles you were able to apply with this high-quality text and resource. Impressive. 7y
