Urgh! Struggling to settle on a book again. I'm hoping a lighthearted visit to Tilling will be the tonic I need. Though a whole book of Mapp without Lucia and Georgie to leaven her bitterness might be strong stuff - only nineteen pages in and she's already hideous! 😄
👑 “Now Miss Mapp's social dictatorship among the ladies of Tilling had long been paramount, but every now and then signs of rebellious upheavals showed themselves..”
📖Spending the morning with the ladies of Tilling and a cup of tea. Happy Sunday. The days have been running together slightly as I feel like my life has been on the same repeat weekly. Hope everyone has wonderful reading ahead of them today!

I‘m so excited to be heading back into the brilliantly comic imagination of E.F. Benson.
It was funny at first and then...I got bored.
Marvellously monstrous.
On seeing one neighbour visiting another, after 9.30pm:
"Instantly, and with strong conviction, she suspected orgies!"

Chintz-based oneupmanship, and "the yield of a thousand Swiss condensed cows".
Loving these books, and love-hating the characters immensely - if anything they're more wonderfully awful than Lucia.
