The illustrations are striking, there is some good background info, but overall, this makes the code talkers a generic group and doesn‘t offer the kind of distinction that they deserve. There are better books about the topic out there for kids.

This beautifully illustrated NF is about the Navajo language and it's utilization during WW2 when it served as an unbreakable code for the United States military. While this book contains some illustrations and text that may too mature for some students, I still believe that it would be great as a RA for older students learning about WW2 or the Navajo. #ucflae3414f17
