I was assigned this book for my Anthropology of Alternative and Complementary Medicine class so I was supposed to read it from an anthropological perspective. However, most of it made sense to me and reinforced things I‘ve been thinking about lately/put words to things I know are true. ✌🏽This is my culture. Story of my life.

The reasons that the soul is so often treated poorly in the larger culture, the reason that it is so often dishonored and pointed to as a pathetic, poor strangled thing is because so many individuals do not say aloud, and do not live out loud, their absolutely certain knowledge of the soul. (pg 9)
