Of all the rock'n'roll bios I've read (and I've read quite a few) this is my absolute favourite. Duff is intelligent, reflective, and takes responsibility for his choices. Also, he knows how to tell a good story.

Duff Man! Oh yeah!
There's a reason why he is one of my favourite Guns guys.
He has been to hell and back and came back stronger.
I loved his stories about Grace his daughter.

This blurb says so much about Duff McKagan: it shows his impressive accomplishments, yet maintains his humility.
And that‘s him - & his story - in a nutshell: amazing, fascinating, entertaining, but always grounded in what matters - family, friends, honesty, and moving on to the next goal.
Very well-written & engaging. Pick this up - I let it linger on my TBR for far too long. Looking forward to reading his 2nd.

I‘ve said this before—nonfiction and memoirs are not my faves. Challenges (this was my book written by a musician for #popsugar2019) expand my reading, and sometimes I find a gem like this.

I‘ve always loved Duff best of GNR, but I‘m impressed with his story. He‘s clearly very smart and has his shit together, but doesn‘t try to pretend that‘s always been the case. Brutally honest, funny, and intense. Good narration, but not Duff.😕

For the last couple of weeks, my daughter has been taking drivers ed, and class starts at 6:30 am. I have shifted my daily #audiowalk to early mornings before work. While I am not loving getting up extra early, I do love the cooler temps on the trails and the gorgeous misty views.

Burning through this audiobook, but I have to keep stopping to listen to songs Duff mentions. I have loved Guns N‘ Roses since I was 12 years old. 😍

Some of my music/rock books (Russell Brand seems to fit even though he's not a singer. He acts like a rock star) The tagged book is particularly great because Duff McKagan talks about how he changed his life and went to college after he became a rock star. #MarchinBooks #BookandMusic @maich

This is a great read. The stories of rock n roll excess are what you'd expect, but his life after he got sober is far more interesting. A fascinating life, very entertainingly told with honesty and a brutal sense of humour.

#ReadHarder challenge 1: a celebrity memoir
(Still not finished the 2017 challenge but figured this audiobook would be a good accompaniment to my new year's Day walk)

I‘m nearly halfway through this and really enjoying it. What a life! You hear the stories of the rock and roll lifestyle, but this is a no holds barred look at Duff McKagan‘s life leading up to and during Guns n‘ Roses. I‘m just amazed that he‘s still able to write a sentence never mind a whole book, considering the amount of alcohol and drugs he must‘ve got through during those years!!

This is a little piece of my celebrity books shelf. I guess these are #guiltypleasures but I don't feel guilty about it at all. They're fun. Below this I have some political books so it balances out the seriousness! #MarchIntoReading

Great read! He managed to hit rock bottom and rebound to find a whole new life.
