This is book 2 in the Bargainer series and it was so very good. Yes, it does end in a cliffhanger but the next book is available. This was a book club book for #firereadingwitchqueens. They are actually reading book 1 so I decided to continue the series. Glad I did. #romantsy #bookspin #springread #mayreadinglist @TheAromaofBooks
I enjoyed this book so much more than the previous one! Callie and Desmond‘s romance really kicks into gear, and I liked the magical kingdom that Thalassa has created. Reading the first installment was worth it, as it led to this one.
“Before there were plants, before there were animals, before there was even light there was darkness. From that darkness, all of our deepest desires and most secret fears were born. And I know all of yours. Perhaps I should share them...“
“Have I told you how easy it was to kill Karnon? His bones broke like twigs, his body burst like overripe fruit.“
“Only in the shadows and dark spaces do we find out truest wishes and deepest desires. Only in the night do we let go of our civility and loosen the ties that bind us during the day. Only then do we reach for soft skin. Only then do we dare to dream.“
“I would steal the stars from the sky for you,“ he whispers into my ear. “Anything to hear you laugh like that.“
In between a pick and a so-so, the mystery of the sleeping soldiers has me intrigued. I keep going back and forth between liking Callie and wishing the siren came out more.
I liked this book, probably more than the first one in the series because you see a lot more of the world of faerie in this one, we travel to different kingdoms and lands and see the other rulers. These books are good, fun, easy reads between my other, more intense reads. 😹
This was a little more of an emotional rollercoaster than the last book, but just as delicious. I felt like even more questions presented themselves. 🤯 I can only hope that when the 3rd book comes out I will have my answers or SO HELP ME!!!! 😡 Unfortunately I can't say anymore without spoilers... Sorry. 🤐
"I guess I now have my answer to that stupid 'rhetorical' question: if a friend asked you to jump, would you? Apparently, twat-waffle that I am, I would."
