Yesterday at work, I had the pleasure of a quiet moment spent reading this nonsense book. I became quite enamored with this spread.
I want the award this wonderful woman is wearing: “First, Last, & Always Prize.”

“Elbows grow on a tickle tree and rain makes applesauce.”
This is the cutest book ever. It‘s just silly talk and nonsense and doesn‘t have much of a plot, but this would be so great to have in a younger elementary classroom. So many things you could do with this book.
The title catches the attention of kids because it‘s silly and fun and it will make kids want to read it

Rain Makes Applesauce by Julian Scheer
Holiday House, New York 1964
The illustrations in this book are really fun and everything that‘s going on is really silly which i think kids will enjoy
I love the detailed illustrations. They add to the plot of the story and give children an opportunity to truly explore and discover new things when viewing the pages. I love children‘s books that have incredible detail because then they are even more engrossed in the book.
This story is full of funny phrases and silly ideas that children will be sure to laugh at. It is simply a fun book that may potentially be a classic and something children remember well into their teen years.
Fun and imaginative story that helps kids imagine a world they may have never thought of.
Caldecott honor book, 1964. Imaginative story that is full of fun and silly talk. The pictures are vibrant and fill the pages, and the words flow across the pictures. Helps kid use their imaginations and think differently of the world
This F book makes a great CR for the class. It‘s all unrealistic nonsense such as rain making applesauce or stars being made of lemon juice, but it uses such creativity that kid‘s would love! It also won the Caldecott Award and the American Library Association Notable Book. The author of this lovely book is Julian Scheer and the creative illustrator is Marvin Bileck.
