so-soTrue dark stories from #HonkKong are in general interesting, some really horrible and some are just about people‘s misfortune in life ... maybe if I didn‘t expect deeper researched criminal cases my rating would be different. Between so-so and pan. #DoubleSpin
so-soI'm fascinated by the dark side of Hong Kong, so I bought this on impulse at a local bookstore. It's ok. He writes well & mostly lets the strange facts speak for themselves (occasionally slipping into hyperbole, eg a rapist is a 'cowardly dog turd' & 'scum of the earth'). Graphic at times, & I think it might have been stronger if there was a linking theme, or narrative element (eg the story from a police or criminal's point of view). Pic: Wan Chai
