This is A Picture Book of Jackie Robinson by David Adler and illustrated by Robert Cadillac. This is a biography of the obstacles and accomplishments he experienced. This book depicts courage. He was more than just a baseball player. He was a star player at UCLA for football, baseball, basketball and track. He fought to serve for the U.S. Army. This would be a very good book for social studies or to talk about courage.
brittanyg This would be a good RA to interact with students and share them a very good biography. Here is a lesson plan that has charts that student can fill out while the RA is going on. https://educators.brainpop.com/bp-topic/jackie-robinson/ Also good to explain events happening around this time period and how it related to one person life. EL 4 and UDL 3.1 for activating prior knowledge. #UCFLAE3414F17 (edited) 7y
AJones This B would make an excellent resource in any classroom library, and it would be an essential component on civil rights. Jackie Robinson wouldn‘t let obstacles during the 1930s get in his way with perseverance he became an amazing athlete; still idolized today. ⚾️#42 Your RA and corresponding strategies compliment each other very nicely. Thanks for sharing. (edited) 7y
alyssahp This sounds like a great book to have in a classroom! Most children's book seem to be F, but to have a biography like this is important and I think students would really enjoy it! There is also so much more about him than just knowing he was a baseball player! Awesome choice @brittanyg! 👍🏼 (edited) 7y
DrSpalding What a wonderful, detailed post about an amazing individual. Many students in your classrooms enjoy sports and learning about these historical sports figures can't be highly impactful. Excellent choice. 7y
