Yesterday my friend, fellow book club member and neighbour, Kate was giving away all of these books and more kerbside. I got some for my partner, some for myself and some for the little people in my life. What a score. My nephew is into the Ripley‘s and my partner loves Hemingway.

Pickpick

These two novellas offer a little slice of alternative living in 1970's Melbourne. Helen Garner's stories are always at least partly autobiographical - I think that's why they feel so real. She has a fine eye for detail and is brilliant at creating multidimensional characters and showing the truth of their inner lives and their often difficult interactions. Her child characters are wonderfully well drawn. #ozfiction

Started sorting my HUGE TBR pile I vowed not to buy any more books , however walked into an op shop and this wonderful first edition of one of my favourite authors was in the free box! In 1980 it cost someone $11.95. Except for the pleating on the bottom of the cover it is in excellent condition. Inside I found a wrap around which says " A dazzling new book from the author of the bestselling Monkey Grip. " @MrsMalaprop

MrsMalaprop OMG, that is amazing 😍😍😍! That is one of the many Garner books that I want to read, thanks to reading 7y
