Fans of The 5th Wave will devour this heart-pounding sci-fi novel about a girl with a secret: on a near-future Earth taken over by aliens, she is the only human left alive. RAISED AMONG THEM. Li has a father and a sister who love her. A best friend, Mirabae, to share things with. She goes to school and hangs out at the beach and carefully follows the rules. She has to. Everyone she knows--her family, her teachers, her friends--is an alien. And she is the only human left on Earth. A SECRET THAT COULD END HER LIFE. The Abdoloreans hijacked the planet sixteen years ago, destroying all human life. Li's human-sympathizer father took her in as a baby and has trained her to pass as one of them. The Abdoloreans appear human. But they don't think with human minds or feel with human hearts. And they have special abilities no human could ever have. FIT IN OR DIE. When Li meets Ryn, she's swept up in a relationship that could have disastrous consequences. How far will Li go to stay alive? Will she save herself--and in turn, the human race--or will she be the final witness to humanity's destruction?

Mehso-so

The Last Girl on Earth is somewhere between a pick and so-so. 3 stars

A short book (almost a novella) & easy to read in one sitting. The reason for the not-quite-a-pick rating is because I felt the story could have been fleshed out more. More world-building, more backstory, & a better explanation of the social structure. 👇🏻

Another #bookspin bingo book ✅
Book 4/3 for #AwesomeAugust

wanderinglynn There‘s mention & hints at the Abdolorean culture, but I thought the author could‘ve gone further into exploring the social dynamics and issues raised. I liked the story, I just wish the author had gone deeper into some of the social issues. As is, the story is rather superficial. I will say the cover is beautiful. 4y

My #readyoursign TBR

The publication date was the hardest to find! But then I found 2 😂

Clwojick I originally had a hard time with that one too, but then my holds came in and 2 fell in the Leo timeframe, and I think 1 was Scorpio. 😂 (edited) 5y
Meaw_catlady Great list!!! Good luck! 🖤 5y

Pickpick

3.5
This is a character driven story about a human girl posing as an alien on a future earth. Her alien father rescued her as a baby when they invaded. It deals with how her family has hidden her all this time and how it effects their daily life. There is really no main plot driving it. The sci-fi is background to the story. If you are expecting heavy sci-fi or an action driven plot, this isn't for you. I enjoyed it though, especially the writing.
