RECOMMENDATIONS NEEDED!!

I‘m having trouble coming up with a feminist classic to read for #Booked2018.

I was going to read Little Women, but I‘m having trouble getting into it.

What have other people read for this category?

emilyhaldi I (finally) read this one!! 7y
Dulcinella I read this one and loved it! 7y
Kalalalatja I read the same as @emilyhaldi and loved it 👍 7y

Mdargusch I‘m reading Agnes Grey and it‘s just ok 7y
Reviewsbylola The Bell Jar is a good one. I plan to read 7y
Libby1 I have loads! I‘ll do multiple comments with tagged books. I‘ll start with The Yellow Wallpaper. 7y
emilyhaldi Oooohh @Reviewsbylola suggestion is amazing- I read it last year and loved ❤️❤️ 7y
Libby1 If you have access to @SerialReader there is a whole women‘s history month section. Serial Reader is an awesome way to find and read classics. 7y
Laughterhp @Libby1 I do have access to Serial Reader. I‘ll check that out. I wasn‘t aware they had a section like that! 7y
EvieBee My absolute favorite is this Aussie classic. The film is brilliant too! 7y
CarolynM @EvieBee Great recommendation! I lost count of how many times I read the book and saw the film when I was a teenager - and those were the days when you had to go to the cinema unless it happened to be on the TV schedule! 7y
Laughterhp @EvieBee @Libby1 @emilyhaldi @Reviewsbylola @Dulcinella @Kalalalatja @Mdargusch Thanks for all the recommendations! Now I have to look all these options up to see which one sounds interesting to me! 😊 7y
EvieBee @CarolynM Wasn‘t it the best?! I still haven‘t read the sequel though. Have you? 7y
CarolynM @EvieBee Yes I have. I'm not sure that I would recommend it though. Not because there's anything wrong with it as such, it's just that it was a huge effort to keep my illusions intact after it. It's not so much a sequel as an alternate narrative. 7y
Cinfhen I read and LOVED 7y
alisiakae Here are a few suggestions: The Handmaid‘s Tale, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, We Should All Be Feminists (it‘s also very short), The Feminine Mystique, The Yellow Wallpaper, A Room of One‘s Own 7y

This just has me scratching my head.

No victim should ever “take the blame” for sexual harassment.

What is wrong with people?!

LectricSheep Oh no, Angela Lansbury!!! What...? 😦 7y
DeeLew Ugh. 😡 7y
That-Bookish-Hiker @LectricSheep I know! A little disappointing. She said that beauty has backfired on women and we have to own up to the fact that we have gone out of our way to make ourselves attractive therefore permitting sexual harassment 🙄 7y

FlowerFairy No....just....no. WoW. 7y
Smrloomis Is this quote recent? If so, I‘m blaming age... 7y
That-Bookish-Hiker @Smrloomis I think it was recent. She said it in an interview she did this week with Britain‘s Radio Times. 7y
Jas16 😱 7y
dylanisreading What even? 😳 7y
Smrloomis @That-Bookish-Hiker she‘s definitely way off base, but she‘s also 92. 7y
