A Glorious Sadness
A Glorious Sadness | Charlie Gallagher
1 post | 1 to read
A man who would normally take his place amongst the most senior police officers in the United Kingdom is found with his body torn apart, lying on sodden tarmac in one of the country's most notorious housing estates. He's dressed in a formal suit, his vehicle is parked over a mile away and he has run much of the distance to his final resting place with panic propelling his limbs and his lungs gasping for breath. It is 2am, December 13th 2011. Three months prior to this Detective Sergeant Mark Wellar is turned out off is bed for what seemed like an every day investigation. Soon he starts to unravel a far wider plot, one that will see the Chief Constable fall and Wellar must fight against the greed and ambition of others to ensure he doesn't lose his own career, his family and ultimately his life.

We closed the library today. We‘re planning to be shutdown for a minimum of two weeks. It feels wrong, somehow, to close when people need us, but we had thousands of people in the door this weekend and we want to keep our neighbors safe. I crave normalcy. 😢
