Capital Gaines
Capital Gaines: The Smart Things I've Learned by Doing Stupid Stuff | Chip Gaines
25 posts | 25 read | 14 to read
The most important step is taking the first one. The funny and talented Chip Gaines is well known to millions of people as a TV star, renovation expert, bestselling author, husband to Joanna, and father of 4 in Waco, Texas. But long before the world took notice, Chip was a serial entrepreneur who was always ready for the next challenge, even if it didn't quite work out as planned. Whether it was buying a neighborhood laundromat or talking a bank into a loan for some equipment to start a lawn-mowing service, Chip always knew that the most important thing was to take that first step. In Capital Gaines, we walk alongside him as he relives some of his craziest antics and the lessons learned along the way. His mentors taught him to never give up and his family showed him what it meant to always have a positive attitude despite your circumstances. Throw in a natural daredevil personality and a willingness to do (or eat!) just about anything, and you have the life and daily activity of Chip Gaines. Capital Gaines is the perfect book for anyone looking to succeed not only in business but more importantly in life.

Loved it like I knew I would. I absolutely love when you can hear that persons voice in their story and you know they truly wrote it. I liked Joanna's book better only bc she had much more detail about how they started, got together etc. but still great for Chip & Jo Gaines fans!

I love Chip and Joanna, so I think some of my good rating comes from that. The book ended up being a lot of rambling and getting off topic. There was some underlying good lessons but I expected it to be different. I think Chip has very interesting points of views on different topics. I wish that it didn‘t have the political pages, I definitely could have done without those.

This book made me wish I personally knew this couple! What a way to live life-focused on God and his family first and foremost. Made me question my purpose in life. Made my longing for God stronger. Made me want to join their team!

Chip's book is insightful, uplifting, and empowering. He truly cares for people and this world. He is hard working and it shows with all he and Jo have. I really enjoyed this book.

I enjoyed this title more than I thought I would, even though I'm a huge fan of the show. Genuine and honest. The kind of book that is inspiring without being preachy.

Chip‘s personality and business philosophy comes through loud and clear. This is a great book for fans of Chip and his show, “Fixer Upper.” There are also some nice details about his relationship with Joanna and how the business grew. I was expecting more funny stories of mistakes and goofs Chip made along the way, but they are mainly in the first third of the book.. Recommended for fans of the show.

BooksTeasAndBookishThings Does he discuss the lawsuit filed against him in this? I am so curious what he has to say. I absolutely love them ❤️ 7y
Sharpeipup @BooksTeasAndBookishThings No, he does not. It‘s more about how he started his business and the lessons he learned in his youth 7y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings Okay, I was curious. Thank you! I read that the book he and Jo wrote kind of ruined their appeal to a lot of fans, so I haven‘t read that one yet. And then I saw this so I was hoping maybe this one would be a lot of fun without personal bias. But, I am still curious about the lawsuit. Of course he may not legally be allowed to discuss until it is over. 7y
