Okay, I gave up on the fourth Peculiar Children book. At least for now. Let‘s hope this one here is better.

3.5 stars! Overall I enjoyed this book. I would have liked it a whole lot more when I was younger. When it came the the end, I found myself asking what was the point in it all? Which isn't a question I like to ask myself! It was a fun, weird read but that was all.

Sophoclessweetheart I've heard this a lot about this author- that the books have no substance or real plot. Are you otherwise a fan? I feel like you liked the Lie Tree? 🙈🖤🖤 7y
booksbeneaththestars @TheOtherMother The lie tree was brilliant, I loved it but it could have just been a murder mystery. Instead she added a weirdness by adding the tree. Haha. I wouldn't say I was a fan, I definitely enjoyed the books I have read. But more in a 'I haven't got to think too hard' way. Plus she has some amazing ideas, but they seems to fall a bit flat. 🤔 Her characters are absolutely amazing though. I know people who behave as they do, it's funny! 💙 7y
Sophoclessweetheart Ahhh. I see. That's always a shame. I hate it when books have this really amazing plot line but the author just kills it. Like, it could have been so good!! 😅 7y

booksbeneaththestars @TheOtherMother It's almost like the plot is an afterthought, the idea is brilliant but it's just there to add to the characters. (Who I like) Does that make any sense? Haha 💙 7y
Sophoclessweetheart Yes, I think so. It's still a shame though. I think it shows lack of skill for the author. Which is a shame after the work they put in. But I guess not everyone can be amazing authors, right? 7y
booksbeneaththestars @TheOtherMother You should definitely read the lie tree though, I think you will like it. Plus that illustrated edition is totally beautiful! 😂 I got my mum reading it now. Haha. I'm not sure if it's me, or if it's just meant for younger readers. The main characters in this book (verdigris deep) are eleven I think. 🤔💙 7y
Sophoclessweetheart Oh wow. Okay 😅😅 7y
