The action was good, but we‘ve got some problems.
The main villain we worked up to from the 2 previous books is so cartoony: Notorious psychopath, serial killer, spy, crackhead who has Raggedy Andy red hair, karate black belt &fluent in Italian
Kay is all over the place, she should have either been allowed to have a mental breakdown or made sense. Marino‘s character development is entirely gone, I hate him as Kay‘s emotional support bigot.

Gault has always seemed a bit of an insipid villain to me, & the ending was a bit of a letdown after all the build-up - it was just far too easily resolved. Scarpetta can be stubborn to the point of ridiculous about her safety at times, & Lucy is just too wonderful at everything to be true. Overall, it's just a little lackluster compared to the first five books. 4🌟

5feet.of.fury I‘m so glad to be moving on from Gault 2y

Another good book in the Scarpetta series 🙂
The hunt for Temple Gault continues! An enjoyable read - I do really like Kay and Marino is an entertaining character.

Found another new Author. I love when that happens. Dr. Scarpetta is hunting a gruesome killer from her past, and what she finds out about the killer named Temple Gault surprises her , but she is able to give back to his Mom and Dad is priceless

I'm loving this series so much! Just finished this one yesterday and am still thinking about it. One of those mysteries that has you questioning everything that goes on. So good!

mcipher I haven't read a book in this series in so long- I'm so behind! I loved her first few so much though. 8y
Samantha.1020 @mcipher I have a ways to go before I catch up with this series as well! I've enjoyed all of the books I've read by her so far! 8y

And more that I wish I just #threwitacrosstheroom... Every Kay Scarpetta novel I've read. I caught on after the third, & never picked up another, thank God. And here's why... You WILL finish them. You WILL anxiously turn pages to find out what happens. But ultimately, these are like Twinkies. No, they're not even that satisfying. They're empty & meaningless. Cornwell just uses her books to show off how much she knows. Don't be fooled.

TheNextBook I've read this one I completely agree. It wasnt bad it was just lacking something. 8y
Sweettartlaura @TheNextBook Exactly. You can read any one of these on a plane, at the beach, etc. You'll like it well enough, & think it's a good read. It's when you try another one that you realize the trap 😜. 8y
My_novel_obsession I agree...I think I made it through the sixth book...they just got worse and worse 8y

I liked that this book could work as a stand alone novel but it had its issues. Scarpetta started off as a great character but she faded to me as the story went on. I also wasn't a fan of the ending at all.

"The world is full of people who mean no harm and cause a great deal of it." I have a feeling I'll be quoting this book a lot. I'm enjoying the dialogue between characters

tpixie Those early Scarpetta books were so good!!! I think she's getting her grove back again. 8y
TheNextBook @teriann This is the first one I've read and I'm early in but I love Scarpetta's vibe right now. 8y
tpixie I've read them all. Happy reading! If you can, read them in order. For the personal story and sometimes the mystery story. 8y

Re-reading the first bunch so I can continue on with this series that I started reading in high school. This is book seven, which was enjoyable and fast paced like the others, but it seemed to end abruptly. Maybe Cornwell had a character counter like Litsy. 😉
