This is a very short quick read.
Rusty-James is a scrappy fighter, just like his older brother. I think this reflects the time period of the early 70‘s, but the attitude of the protagonist makes him unlikable. I wasn‘t surprised by the troubles he had, and didn‘t feel sorry for him, which I suspect was the author‘s goal.

Books I finished a couple weeks ago. They were both really good! Rumble Fish was surprising.

Haven't been posting because I've been busy with life, and I'm going away for two weeks so I won't be posting for a while yet!

I finished reading Rumble Fish in about an hour. I'm not in love with this book, but I don't hate it either. This book moves rather slow, but it's still an interesting story & I've found that it has quite the interesting message about blindly idolizing your heros or those important to you. If you've read The Outsiders, there are some references that show that both are set in Tulsa around the same time period, but nothing more than that.

Like The Outsiders, this short novel is about tough kids from the rough part of town. When Rusty-James runs into an old friend, it brings back old memories he had been trying to forget.
