Doves: Love in Los Angeles | 
pickDOVES is very much concerned with Hollywood politics, with personality clashes, and with the ways fame and success impact relationships of all kinds. The pacing‘s a little off in places, but McRae and Maltese bombard the reader with so many tense, emotional moments that I can‘t even mind. I never tired of these characters with their realistically messy romances, their unconventional friendships, and their fascinating careers. Bring on Book Three.
It‘s killing me how I don‘t have time to binge read DOVES. The first book, STARLING, was really good, if oddly paced, but this one blows it away. I‘ve got my fingers crossed I can really dig into it after tonight‘s party.
Sparse #weeklyforecast this time around, since I dunno what I‘m in the mood for. I‘ve already quick-bailed on one Christmas romance today, so all I‘ll commit to is:
• DOVES by McRae & Maltese, from my unread 2019 purchases stash
• three volumes of TO YOUR ETERNITY. Maybe more, but definitely these three.
• the rest of THE RAVEN BOYS on audio
I‘m sure I WILL read at least one more novel, but don‘t ask me what it‘ll be.
pickSO good. If Starling was the appetizer, then this is the rich, savory main course. Everything is deeper here: relationships, risks and rewards, pain, fun. I won‘t lie, these books aren‘t always pretty, but MY GOD the feelings. I‘m pretty sure the reason I‘ve been snappish at my partner today is that she won‘t just leave me alone and let me read.
Two more books. And yes, I‘ll be live-blogging them both. Sorry, not sorry.

It‘s supposed to be Alex and Paul‘s story, really. But Victor . . . I keep finding passages like this and maybe it‘s his story after all?
It‘s official, I love Victor. And I love that he has such a fondness for Alex, and that Alex is alternately amused and vaguely unnerved by this.
It‘s a bad air quality day, I‘m tired from a bunch of busy days, and I have absolutely nothing to do but immerse myself further into this wonderful universe for the entire day.
If you like a primary M/M romance with an ace, bi, and poly supporting cast, boys being stupid, accidental fame, found family and created family, and actually seeing the work of relationships, these are your books. And the first one, Starling, is discounted this week.
