Kat and Meg Conquer the World
Kat and Meg Conquer the World | Anna Priemaza
11 posts | 9 read | 5 to read
For fans of Nicola Yoons Everything, Everything, Emery Lords When We Collided, and Rainbow Rowells Fangirl, Anna Priemazas debut novel is a heartwarming and achingly real story of finding a friend, being a fan, and defining your place in a difficult world. Kat and Meg couldnt be more different. Kats anxiety makes it hard for her to talk to people. Meg hates being alone, but her ADHD keeps pushing people away. But when the two girls are thrown together for a year-long science project, they discover they do have one thing in common: Theyre both obsessed with the same online gaming star and his hilarious videos. It might be the beginning of a beautiful friendshipif they dont kill each other first. Kat and Meg Conquer the World will hit home for anyone who has ever been waist-deep in fandom, doubt, or new relationships; Kats and Megs unique voices are outstanding, and their friendship brings this story to vibrant life."Francesca Zappia, author of Made You Up and Eliza and Her Monsters

A story of two teens, each with their own struggles, who meet & become BFFs. It was okay. The writing felt like it was meant for more middle grade than YA, but some of the subject matter was more teen than MG. While a sweet story, it really wasn‘t my cup of tea.

I did like the message “Be Awesome”

Book 7 for #joyousjanuary
Quiet YA for winter #booked2023
Book 6/50 for #readoffmyshelf

Andrew65 Well done on finishing, 7 books is excellent 👏👏👏 2y
Cinfhen Agreed, lovely message 😁 2y

I love #bookhaul days.

From Bookshop.org, I got the top two books. I loved the House in the Cerulean Sea (the audiobook) so much I had to have a physical copy.

The Beyond is the 4th book in the Devil‘s Isle series.

Star Daughter is the August Owl Crate book (it takes it about 2 weeks longer to get to me here 😂)

And Kate & Meg just sounded like a fun book that I ordered, along with the Beauty & the Beast print, from LitJoyCrate.

TheSpineView I did the same thing with and bought a copy for my grand kids. 4y

I can usually read books within 3 days but I‘m struggling with this book. I just have no desire to continue reading it. The writing isn‘t bad but the story itself isn‘t keeping my attention.

I don‘t know if meg having ADHD was correctly represented. Both girls in this story Senn a lot younger than 17. Maybe I wasn‘t in the right frame of mind to read the book but I decided it‘s not worth it since I‘m only 100 pages in so I‘m bailing.

This was mostly very delightful! It was a fun, quick read. I loved the gaming and fandom aspects, and focus on friendship. At times it felt like Kat was me - I related so much to her experiences of anxiety and the things that made her uncomfortable, like parties and spontaneity.
I enjoyed reading about her friendship with Meg develop.
Towards the end, the book dragged a bit for me, but overall this was quite good. Recommended!

I've been reading a lot of books about characters with anxiety lately and this is one of the most real. I also loved Kat and Meg's friendship, and the way this book depicts Meg's ADHD (which I haven't read a lot about.) My best friend is very Meg-like (and I'm more Kat) so I'm definitely passing this to her to read 😁

Kat has anxiety. Meg has ADHD. They're partners in a school project who bond over a shared love of a popular computer game.

I found Kat and her anxiety to be believable, but I had trouble with Meg. She felt like a caricature, but that could just be my limited understanding of ADHD. The story was cute- nothing earth shattering, but still a light, fun read.

This cover is HORRIBLE though. So cheesy.

Ohhhhh Myyyyyy Godddd!!!!! I loved this book so much. This book reminds me of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell but better. The characters were very relatable and realistic which I loveddddd!!!!!! Overall this story is about two nerd misfit girls helping each other through life. 💟 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5

Amazing story of a friendship between a girl with ADHD and a girl with anxiety who love video games and YouTube stars. This story is so real, fresh, and relatable.
