At times I couldn‘t stop laughing enough to read bits out loud to my husband. This was just what I needed in this run up to the election. Especially good if you‘re a fan and can hear her voice in your head.

Is there a secret to happiness? I don‘t know how or why anyone would keep it a secret. It seems rather cruel, really. If I knew it, I couldn‘t go to Target without stopping at customer service just inside the door, grabbing the microphone and shouting it, to release everyone in the entire place from their misery, and that‘s without even getting as far as the housewares section or women‘s lingerie, not to mention Haiti.
Needing some laughs tonight, so I‘m dipping in to this finally. (It‘s been on my shelf for 2 years!)
🙌🏽 I have nothing to add
I really wanted to like this I respect Paula Poundstone and her efforts to recover from alcoholism and career suicide... but this fell flat for me, choc full of boring stories about #momlife.
I have been a long time fan of Poundstone, so I got this audiobook awhile ago... and then proceeded not to listen to it. Thankfully the #NFNov challenge came along and I made time for it! This book is set over many years and the many ways that Poundstone searched for happiness with varying results. I can say that listening to this book certainly made me happy! @Clwojick
I liked this one and thought it was funny, but I don‘t know if it would have been as great if it wasn‘t on audio. I think in this case it‘s a book that‘s really going to miss something if you don‘t listen to it.
Final Poundstone post, (at least until I read the book.) She was hilarious of course, and also very gracious and stayed after and spoke to anyone who wanted to talk to her.
Waiting for Paula Poundstone!
Love this quote, although I doubt it came from this book.

Today is the San Antonio Book Festival and I got to meet one of the funniest women in America and one of my heroes, Paula Poundstone! 😍
I‘ve loved the comedian Paula Poundstone for years, and I was so excited to pick up her latest book. While I didn‘t LOVE this, it was still nice to have some new Paula Poundstone in my life. Her humor is always observational and never cruel, she‘s always trying to figure out how to make the most of her life. There was nothing earth-shattering about this book but it felt nice, like checking in with an old friend.
I will listen to anything Paula says! She's as real as it gets! Here she talks mostly about raising her three children and searching for happiness for herself.
I am continuing my streak of listening to comedians' books being read by the comedian themselves. This book was hysterical, sometimes I would laugh until I cried. Her observations on motherhood were especially delightful. I certainly got a few heps of happiness from this book.
Ok pardon the French but this is f***ing terrible! I listened to practically the first disc and I was bored & irritated. I didn't laugh once! It took all my self restraint to not bang my head against the steering wheel in rush hour traffic on my way home bc I was that unenthused 😝
The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness. A fun read if you like comedian Paula Poundstone, this could probably bring you one or two heps of happiness. But I finished the book not quite understanding where her sarcasm and humor ended and the complaining about the true source of her unhappiness began. It has a few funny moments, but there are funnier books out there.
